Discover the heart of Glendora High School Show Choirs. We’re a community dedicated to excellence in music, performance, and personal growth, inspiring students to achieve their best on and off the stage.
Glendora Show Choirs are more than just performance groups; they’re a vibrant community dedicated to excellence, growth, and the joy of music. Over the past few years, our program has flourished, becoming one of the top five show choirs on the West Coast and earning national recognition. This success is a testament not only to the talent and hard work of our students but also to the enduring support of our families and the community. Led by Matt Davis, our program is driven by a vision that extends beyond the stage. We’re committed to shaping the lives of our students — instilling confidence, teamwork, and resilience that carry well beyond their school years. Being part of Glendora Show Choirs means joining a legacy, a family, and a tradition of excellence that continues to inspire and impact the lives of our students long after they’ve graduated.
Matthew Davis Our Visionary Director
Matthew Davis is a conductor, singer, and educator who is quickly making a name for himself in the Southern California region. August of 2024 marks the beginning of his fourth as choir director at Glendora High School and Goddard Middle School. At Glendora High School, Mr. Davis conducts the school’s award-winning show choirs, the Highland Heirs, Tartan Silhouettes, and the Royal Stewarts.
In addition to being a conductor and educator, Davis is a versatile performer having sung backup for notable singers such as Kathleen Battle, Barry Manilow, and most recently Andrea Bocelli. Davis can be heard on the album “John Williams and Steven Spieldberg: The Ultimate Collection” recorded with Sony Classical. He has performed under the baton of notable conductors such as John Williams, Jeffrey Kahane, Carl St. Clair, John Alexander, James Conlon, Grant Gershon, and others.
As a conductor, Matthew has conducted full performances of many operas, most notably Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” and “Cosi fan tutte,” both of which were with full orchestra, as well as Ravel’s “L’enfant et les sortilèges,” which was performed with a chamber orchestra. In the summer of 2018, Davis was invited to participate in the Chorus America Conducting Academy as a Conducting Fellow.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Choral Music from the University of Southern California where he studied conducting under Jo-Michael Scheibe, Cristian Grases, and Don Brinegar. He has a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting from California State University, Fullerton where he studied with Robert Istad, Christopher Peterson, and Kimo Furumoto.
In addition to being an educator, Matthew likes to spend his time with his wife Amelia, his baby boy Simon, and his two cats Simone and Bruce. He enjoys hiking, playing video games, cooking, and traveling.
Andrea Aron Choreographer
Andrea has been choreographing for the Glendora choirs for ten years! She holds a Theatre Arts degree from Azusa Pacific University and has enjoyed opportunities to teach, direct, and choreograph for young people throughout Southern California. In addition to performing in dozens of plays, musicals, and concerts, she spent nine years performing at the Disneyland Resort—with one Disney Cruise Line contract in the middle—and she currently serves as the interim worship leader at Ignite City Church. Born and raised in Glendora, Andrea feels incredibly blessed to be able to give back to her alma mater and share her love of the arts with the next generation of Tartans.
Peter Kirkpatrick Accompanist
Besides taking formal piano lessons, Peter Kirkpatrick was given the chance to work with his local church choir in high school (in the Pacific Northwest), which helped kick-start his love affair with working with choirs and vocal ensembles as an accompanist. He's worked with high school, middle school, and college productions in Southern California, and served 18 years as the music director for a Spanish language ministry of Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles. He studied math at USC, but after that brief detour from the arts, went back to L.A. City College to earn an A.A. In music. He's also in a holiday caroling group!
Susia Ruddell Choreographer & Show Designer
Susia Ruddell is a freelance show choir choreographer and show designer living in Los Angeles, California. She is a graduate of the University of New Mexico where she studied dance with a focus in flamenco, performing arts design, and adolescent development. She has worked all around the country designing one-of a- kind shows, creating costumes, choreographing, and teaching performance skills to students every year. Her passion to build a community within the performing arts has made her a leader in building programs across the region. She spends her free time going to Cosmetology school, crafting, and snuggling with her Bearded Dragon, Ducky.
