Interested in becoming part of our award-winning Show Choirs? Whether just getting started or ready to audition for one of our competitive choirs, here’s how to build the skills and confidence to shine on stage!
A strong foundation in singing, dancing, and acting helps prepare students for Show Choir success. Here’s how to get involved at a young age:
Take Vocal Classes in Elementary School Starting in 4th Grade
When students have the option to choose vocal or instrumental music, selecting vocal training helps develop early singing skills. Thanks to our Glendora Ed Foundation and Glendora Unified School District, we have the opportunity to start music education in fourth grade.
Consider Private Lessons Vocal, Acting, & Dance Training
Private lessons are a great way to refine the skills needed for Show Choir. Training in singing, acting, and dance helps students develop confidence, technique, and stage presence—key components of a strong audition and performance.
We recommend:
🎤 Vocal Training – Develop range, pitch, and control with local vocal coaches like Lori Kibbe or Top Billing Entertainment in the Glendora Village.
🎭 Acting Lessons – Learn character work, expression, and stage presence to enhance storytelling.
💃 Dance Classes – Ballet, jazz, and hip-hop help with movement, coordination, and stamina for high-energy performances.
Show Choir combines all three elements—so getting experience in each area will set students up for success!
Build Confidence on Stage Through Performance & Live Shows
The best way to grow as a performer is to get on stage! Participating in live performances builds confidence, presence, and adaptability—essential for Show Choir.
Ways to gain experience:
🎭 Join school theater productions – Acting in plays and musicals improves stage awareness and storytelling.
🎶 Perform in vocal showcases – Singing in front of an audience sharpens vocal performance skills.
💃 Dance recitals & shows – Experience in front of a crowd prepares students for synchronized movement on stage.
🎤 Community & private productions – Local theater companies and performance groups offer valuable opportunities.
The more time students spend on stage, the more comfortable and expressive they become—key traits for excelling in Show Choir!
add some stories of families whose kids started young in glendora and how they did GYS and all the 'normal' activities and then found this as their passion - maybe even pics and such to bring it to life
